Zdenek Zumr comes to the US from Switzerland. Traveling and working in many countries, he encountered many fascinating medical and spiritual practices. He decided to follow the fascination and studied Shiatsu under Dr. Kaneko in Santa Monica, CA. This in turn led him to Chinese Medicine and a Master Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture at Yo San University in 1997. He teaches Oriental Medicine and Shiatsu at Ashmead College in Vancouver, WA and also publishes instructional materials for Oriental Medicine schools.
Zdenek Zumr was born in Czechoslovakia, but left with his family after the spring revolution of ‘68. After a few years in Morocco they moved to Switzerland and acquired citizenship. Educated in electronics engineering his work sent him around the globe.
During one such journey he encountered Shiatsu massage.Intrigued, he studied Shiatsu under
DoAnn Kaneko. In 1993 he changed careers to pursue full time study of Traditional Chinese Medicine and graduated from
Yo San University (www.YoSan.edu) with a Master Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture in 1997.
Since September 1998, Zdenek has lived in Portland Oregon, where until recently he practiced Chinese medicine at the
Pearl Clinic (www.pearlclinic.com) , a multidisciplinary clinic and pharmacy that includes western, eastern and naturopathic doctors as well as bodyworkers.
